C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd

C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd were formed in 2013 by Glen Chapman and Matthew Tredwen. Starting in a small office in the Kent town of Strood, near Rochester, they held their first ever sale of Vintage Toys and Militaria on 2nd October 2013. The sale was an online and postal only auction with a viewing option at The Larkfield Priory Hotel, Larkfield, in Kent. Highlights from this sale included a sealed pack of No 261 James Bond Aston Martin DB-5 models from Goldfinger which hammered at £5,500 and an Historically Important Great War Gallipoli Campaign Archive Belonging To Captain J H Lawson, Royal Engineers which hammered at £7,000!

C&T Auctioneers first live room auction took place on the 8th January 2014, at The Spa Hotel in Royal Tunbridge Wells becoming their venue of choice for many auctions to come. Again, this sale was very successful, with a number of lots performing well above estimate in both departments.

Following the success of the January 2014 room auction, C&T began offering dedicated specialist auctions of Vintage Toys and Militaria. It was after this time that the business started to gain momentum and, in 2015, after the closure of Antique Doll & Toy auctions at international Auction House, Bonhams, C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd were joined by Leigh Gotch and James Opie. Leigh introducing Antique Dolls, Dolls Houses & Teddy Bear auctions and, James, Toy Soldier & Figure auctions. With the expansion of the business, the team moved to much larger offices in the village of Kenardington, near Ashford, in Kent.

Books, Paperwork & Ephemera specialist Tim Harper joined the team, following this change in location and, in 2018, George Champ brought his specialist knowledge of coins & antique silver to C&T, introducing the 'Coins & Banknotes' and the 'Watches, Jewellery & Miscellaneous' department.

In March 2020, with the Covid pandemic forcing many auction houses to convert to online auctions, C&T were no different. Despite this initially daunting shift, support of the business remained strong, leading to the entirety of C&T's auctions being held online. The majority of C&T's auctions offer bidders two main online portals through which to bid - C&T Live (on our own website) & the Saleroom.com, we're now also offering LiveAuctioneers as a bidding platform on certain auctions. There is also the option to leave absentee or telephone bids directly through the C&T office.

Much of the success of C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd is down to the support of our clients, but also our staff working behind the scenes to offer our clients, both buyers and sellers, a smooth service at auction!
