A Day For Dolls - Auction Highlights

Another exciting day on the rostrum!
The results from our Fine Dolls, Dolls Houses, Soft Toys & Juvenalia Auction are in and they didn't disappoint.
This auction featured very rare lots, including a 'Miss Penelope' doll with provenance, circa 1720. As well as Bisque Heads, Antique Dolls Houses, Automata, Collectible Teddy Bears, and much more!
Sit back and take a look through a selection of the best lots sold on Wednesday 20th November 2024:
First up is Lot 37, "An extremely fine and early painted wooden Noah’s Ark with over 250 finely carved animals and family". This impressive piece sold for a hammer price of £16,500.
Next up is Lot 60, "Miss Penelope, an important early English carved wooden lady doll with provenance, circa 1720". This early doll hammered in at £9,600.
Provenance: Lady Penelope has various letters and documents with research and information, it is purported that she was bought over to England from Holland by a lady in waiting, also that the doll has a sister in the London V&A museum of Childhood, Miss Caroline.
Another beautiful doll, Lot 96, "A Leon Casimer Bru circle dot bisque head Bebe doll, French circa 1880". This pale bisque head came in at a hammer price of £4,800.
Following on from this, we have Lot 179, "A good large Steiff light brown mohair Teddy bear, German circa 1909", which came in at a hammer price of £2,500.
Possibly the most notable lot to feature in the auction, is Lot 240, "An extremely rare vintage boxed Kissy Suzuki doll from James Bond’s You Only Live Twice, 1960s". Interest for this item skyrocketed in the days leading up to the auction and brought in a hammer price of £16,500!
