Timed Auction Successes! Military Collectibles Jan 25

Changing with the times...
The Timed Auction format continues to alter the landscape of auctioneering as we know it. More frequently we see the success of online bidding and its comparative results to Live Auctions. Often running for 2 weeks at a time, these sales are growing in popularity as bidders embrace this new wave of buying.
Recently we held our first Timed Auction of 2025. This 600 lot, Military Collectibles sale, saw an increase in bidder interest (500 registered) and an array of items going under the virtual hammer. With pieces from the Jon Mills Battle Dress Collection making their first feature of 2025. Alongside a collection of Optics and Police Badges. As well as, WW2 German Army Equipment, the results were a great start to the year and make for interesting reading...
The best of them all was Lot 122. The "George VI Yeoman Warden of the Tower of London (Beefeater) Uniform" sold for an amazing £3,350. Despite being a heavy tunic with some stitching and gilt coming away, the uniform, in well used condition, is still a striking piece that caused a stir amongst bidders.
Another notable lot worth mentioning, is Lot 92 - EIIR Household Cavalry Lifeguards Officers Helmet. Estimated at £400 - £600, the "White metal helmet with large enamel badge to front and brass fittings with brass chin scale on leather chin strap, complete with leather liner and white horse hair plume", closed on a final winning bid of £860.
Amongst the selection of edged weapons in this particular auction, was a "WW2 Japanese NCO Sword Katana". This good example with cast grip and tsuba, missing spring catch, clean slightly curved blade being 70 cm long housed in wood covered scabbard, closed on a bid of £840.
